In Memory – ‘Big Terry’ and ‘Wee Harry’

Boys & Girls Clubs sincerely regret the recent passing of our esteemed friends and colleagues, Harry Cunningham and Terry Watson.  Those of you with more than a few years’ experience of youth service, will know that Harry and Terry gave huge service to young people, youth work and to Boys & Girls Clubs.

Harry Cunningham was the Head Coach & Manager of Saints Amateur Boxing Club (Twinbrook), he served as a trustee and Chair of our Boxing Committee as well as a board member of the IABA’s Co Antrim Board. Harry was highly regarded as the best ‘matchmaker’ in Irish youth boxing and gave over 35 years of voluntary service to Boys & Girls Clubs. Harry passed away suddenly after contracting Covid-19.  We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Geraldine and family circle.

Terry Watson was the Programme Director of Boys & Girls Clubs from 1994-2005. Terry was very sociable, respected and highly regarded by his colleagues, he was committed to young people and youth work, he loved football, boxing and other sports and was always great fun to be with.  Terry passed away following a long-term illness.  We extend our deepest sympathy to Terry’s family circle.

‘Wee Harry’ and ‘Big Terry’ gave many years of dedicated service to children and young people. Their lifetime of service and dedication to young people and children is greatly appreciated and acknowledged by the Chair, trustees, staff and volunteers of Boys & Girls Clubs.

Rest in Peace
